LIVING AND WORKING IN CUBA
To live and work in Cuba, foreign nationals need a work permit. This permit is granted to foreign nationals who have an official work contract with a Cuban institution or company. The Cuban institution applies for this permit to the Cuban Ministry of Labour. Only after this permit is granted can the Cuban Immigration Authority issue a residence permit or a visa for a period no longer thatn 60 days.
Foreign nationals who are involved in official cooperation or exchange projects with Cuban institutions are granted non-permanent residence authorization by Immigration authorities. This non-permanent residence authorization must be requested to the Immigration Department by the Cuban institution that invites the foreign national to take part in any such official project.
The Cuban Consulate or Cuban Embassy do not process applications to live and work in Cuba. These applications must be made in Cuba by the Cuban institution that invites a foreign national to work or take part in an exchange project.
The Cuban Consulate cannot contact Cuban institutions on behalf of foreign nationals who wish to apply for a job in Cuba.
