“Cuba reiterates its firm commitment with colonial peoples’ struggle for their self-determination”
Nicaragua, 31 May 2016. At the opening session of the Pacific Regional Seminar of the UN Committee on Decolonization, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, noted the priority the United Nations Organization shall continue offering to the decolonization cause, as well as, the importance of serious and respectful collaboration by Administering Powers with the UN Committee on Decolonization, so that it fulfills its mandate and relevant UN resolutions on the issue.
When referring to Cuba’s commitment with the struggle against colonialism, the Cuban diplomat highlighted: “Cuba ratifies its steadfast support to the inalienable right of all peoples to self-determination and expects that the celebration of this Seminar, especially the respectful and constructive dialogue and exchange of viewpoints, constitutes a significant step forward in the struggle of the peoples of non-autonomous territories to achieve their independence, sovereignty and free-determination”.
