Presentation of Cuba in UN, put forward Cuba’s experience in the fight for women’s rights
New York, 8 March. Various Non-Governmental Organizations participated in a panel discussion on Violence against Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, in the framework of the 57th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, at the United Nations.
In this meeting, Mrs. Yamila González, representative of the National Union of Cuban Jurists, made a presentation as a panelist, putting forward Cuba’s experience in the fight for women’s rights, and denouncing the Blockade against the Island imposed by the United States, as well as the situation of the Cuban Five and the violation of their relatives’ rights.
Said Commission is the intergovernmental body of the United Nations, entrusted with promoting gender equality and equity, as well the empowerment of women.
