Press Release. The Non-Aligned Movement adopts a Declaration of Solidarity with Cuba in response to the new subversive plan of the U.S. Government against Cuba
New York, United Nations, 22 August.- The Non-Aligned Movement adopted a Declaration of solidarity with the Republic of Cuba in response to the new subversive plan of the United States authorities against Cuba and demanded respect for the expressed will of the Cuban people to continue improving their economic and social model and consolidating their democracy without foreign interference.
The declaration reads as follows:
Declaration of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement on the New Plan of the United States Government, which is contrary to the right of self-determination by the people of the Republic of Cuba
The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement has learned with concern the recent revelations of the U.S. News Agency Associated Press (AP) regarding another plan funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which is contrary to the exercise of the right to self-determination of the Cuban people. Such plan is aimed at turning young Cubans into “destabilizing agents” and promoting actions against the constitutional order endorsed by the Cuban people, using young people from third countries, recruited since 2009 to this end.
The said project is contrary to the rules of International Law and the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. U.S. authorities, that have claimed responsibility and implementation thereof, ratify the hostile and interfering nature of their policy towards Cuba and their intention to create destabilizing situations that lead to the overthrow of the political, economic and social order established by the Cuban people.
The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement reiterates its steadfast demand for the end of any action threatening the sovereignty and the right to self-determination of any State, especially those Member States of the Movement.
The Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement expresses its solidarity with the Republic of Cuba and demands respect for the expressed will of the Cuban people to continue to improve its economic and social model and to consolidate its democracy without foreign interferences.
