Press Release. Cuba speaks on behalf of CELAC, at the Annual Session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund.
New York, 20 June.- Cuba made a statement on behalf of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), at the Annual Session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
In his speech, Cuban representative to the Board, William Díaz, emphasized on the importance of promoting children development for CELAC, as well as the progress achieved and the challenges the region is facing in this sector.
He also stressed the importance of UNICEF presence and activities in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as those aspects of paramount importance for our countries concerning the new Strategic Plan of this Fund to be implemented in the period of 2014-2017.
The Executive Boards of the United Nations Agencies, Funds and Programs for Development are the intergovernmental bodies responsible for the follow-up of the administrative and programmatic functioning of these entities, both in the headquarters and in the countries where they operate
