THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY WILL VOTE ON THE CUBAN RESOLUTION AGAINST THE BLOCKADE NEXT TUESDAY, 27 OCTOBER.
THE BLOCKADE AGAINST CUBA IS THE MAIN OBSTACLE FOR THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF CUBA.
New York, 22 October, 2015. The economic damage caused to the Cuban people by the implementation of the economic commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than 50 years amounts to 833 755 000 USD, considering the dollar depreciation versus the value of gold in the international market, and despite the reduction in the price of gold compared to the previous period. At regular prices, along all these years, the blockade has caused damage of more than 121 192 000 USD.
The blockade causes serious economic damages and is the main obstacle for the development of Cuba. It brings about shortages and privations to all Cuban families and Cubans residing abroad, besides the fact that 77% of the Cuban population was born and has lived their whole life under the cruel effects of the blockade. This is something no accounting can count.
The impact, the humanitarian harm caused every day, hour by hour, by the US blockade against Cuba is extreme and cannot be expressed in figures.
The blockade is a massive, blatant and systematic human rights violation of all Cubans.
Therefore, among other reasons, Cuba will submit to the United Nations General Assembly for the twenty-fourth consecutive time next October 27th, the draft Resolution A/70/L.2 “Necessity of Ending the Economic, Commercial and Financial Embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”.
