1 July, 2016. At the United Nations General Assembly, Cuba decisively supported today the collective efforts of the Organization against terrorism and guaranteed its full participation in the struggle against such scourge. Within the framework of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy Review, the Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, noted that the international community shall not accept that under the flag of an alleged counter-terrorism struggle, acts of aggression or interference in States’ internal affairs are committed, as well as, flagrant human right and international humanitarian law violations, such as tortures, kidnaps, illegal detentions, disappearances and extrajudicial executions.

At the time he condemned the harmful practice of certain States of financing and promoting intolerance and hatred messages against other peoples, cultures or political systems through the Internet, radio or TV, in open transgression to the principles of the UN Charter and International Law, the Representative of Cuba made a call to overcome the root causes of terrorism, offer protection to its victims and to attain States’ fulfillment of international obligations without double standards, including the obligation to judge and extradite all terrorists, without any exception.
