Havana, January 23, 2012 Over the last few days, the media and representatives of certain governments traditionally committed to anti-Cuba subversion have unleashed a new campaign of accusations, unscrupulously taking advantage of a lamentable event: the death of an ordinary prisoner, which possibly only in the case of Cuba, is converted into news of international repercussion.

Cuba Seizes Nine Tons of Drugs in 2011

Francisco Arias Fernández HAVANA, January 20, 2012.- High demand in the United States, the world's largest consumer of narcotics, which stimulates shipments along international drug routes in the vicinity of Cuba’s borders, contributed to the dramatic increase in drugs washed up on national coasts, comprised the bulk of the 9,181 kg seized in 2011.

This January 19th, inmate Wilman Villar Mendoza, who was serving a sentence for committing common crimes, died at the intensive-care unit of the Clinical and Surgical Hospital “Doctor Juan Bruno Zayas” in Santiago de Cuba at 18:45hrs, due to a multiple organ failure that was followed by a severe septic respiratory process, which caused a septic shock to the patient.

Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Attends Gambia´s Presidential Inauguration

GAMBIA, January 19, 2012.- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcos Rodríguez Costa, presided over the Cuban delegation to Gambia´s official presidential inauguration of Yahya AJJ Jammeh, this Thursday, January 19, at the Central Stadium in this capital.

MALAYSIA CELEBRATES 53rd ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRIUMPH OF THE CUBAN REVOLUTION

 The launching of Juan Lopez # 4 Cuban cigar brand, exclusively produced by Habanos S.A. for the Asian region, took place in Kuala Lumpur, sponsored by Ritz-Carlton Hotel and with the support of the Embassy of Cuba. Five different Havana Club rums were tasted during the night of the event.

Cuba and Malaysia strengthen cooperation in the field of neuroscience.

 The Cuban Neuroscience Center and the University of Sciences Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of neuroscience. The signing took place at the headquarters of the higher education center in the state of Penang. On behalf of the Cuban center was signed by Dr. Pedro Valdés Sosa, Deputy Director of the Center for Neuroscience and for Malaysian center was signed by Dato Omar Osman, Vice Chancellor of the University.

Antonio Guerrero’s drawings and poems presented in Malaysia

As a part of the presentation in Malaysia of the documentary " Will the Real Terrorist Please Stand Up” directed by Saul Landau, about US-Cuba relations and the Cuban 5, were presented copies of the Antonio Guerrero’s drawings of butterflies and poems. His artistic grace and understand his commitment to defend his homeland from foreign aggressors were appreciated by participants.
