CUBA IN THE PROMOTION OF THE 4TH LATINOAMERICAN FESTIVAL OF KUALA LUMPUR

Music and dance of the island, with its contagious rhythm, has opened the doors to the promotion, on the local television, the return to BBPark on May 20th the Kuala Lumpur Latin American Festival, which already reached its fourth edition, an event preceded by the success of their three previous editions. As part of the promotion of the greater Latin celebration, that is celebrated every year, Greisy Padrón, Cuban resident, entertained audiences with music of the island, through the signal of the NTV channel 7 in his morning "Breakfast Show" live space. A couple of dancer accompanied the singer.

GOVERNOR OF STATE OF MALACCA MEETS THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR

Rubén Pérez Valdés, Ambassador of Cuba to Malaysia, was received in audience by Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Governor of the State of Malacca, during his official two day visit to the State. The diplomat informed to the Governor on the courtesy visit that had been previously paid to Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of Malacca, and the mutual commitment to extend, the very good cultural exchange between the two Governments, towards the biotechnology sector in which the island can contribute much to Malaysia and especially to the State of Malacca. The State's main income comes from tourism. With a population of little less than a million inhabitants, the city received in 2011 about 12 million tourists. Health tourism has expanded with the increase significant tourists under this modality, and from mainly neighboring countries.

CHIEF MINISTER OF THE STATE OF MALACCA MEETS THE CUBAN AMBASSADOR

Ambassador of Cuba to Malaysia Rubén Pérez Valdés, made a courtesy call to Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of the State of Malacca, with which the largest of the Antilles maintains strong cultural and friendship ties. The best expression is the existence in this state of the art Gallery "Casa Cuba", which houses paintings by various artists of the island. Mohd Rustam visited Cuba in 2007, as part of a delegation led by Tun Datuk Seri Utama Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Governor of Malacca. On that occasion he received a designation as “Illustrious Guest” of La Havana City.

THE BLOCKADE OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST CUBA IS CONDEMNED IN MALAYSIA

Within the framework of the sessions of the Kuala Lumpur International Tribunal Against War Crimes, which meets in this capital since May 7, to judge former President W. Bush and other members of his administration for war crimes and torture, a special panel was established, at the end of the ordinary meeting of the Court of 10 May, under the theme "Economic Sanctions as a Crime of War". Leading the panel were, the well known Malaysian intellectual Chandra Muzaffar and the former Assistant Secretary-General of United Nations Denis Halliday from Ireland. In their respective submissions on what has meant the application of such economic sanctions against various countries, both of them strongly condemned the economic blockade of the United States against Cuba, for more than 50 years, as genocidal and criminal. They also rated the resistance of the Cuban people to such a policy of Washington, as heroic and demonstration of the capacity of the people to face the Empire when they defend a just cause.

The Ambassador of Cuba in Malaysia, Rubén Perez Valdés, was meet in a courtesy call by Dato' Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Waters. Dato Sri Peters is member of the Parliament and President of the United Party of the People of Sarawak (SUPP). The Minister recalled with pleasure his visit to Cuba with the ex- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in 2004, opportunity in which he could state the advances of the island in spheres like the biotechnology and public health. Familiarized with the work of the Cuban Embassy, the high Malaysian official was updated by the Ambassador about the businesses projects that, in different sectors, are going on between both countries.
