Malaysia, 4th of May - As part of its annual activities and pursuant to the provisions in the statutes and agreements adopted by its Executive Committee at the last meeting; the Friends of Cuba Association in Malaysia held its 5th General Assembly for the year 2015.
At the meeting, where prevailed the spirit of solidarity with the Caribbean island, Malaysians friends discussed actions that they carried out in favor of Cuba until April; on the state of accounting and the executed audit, also the governing body was elected.
The attendees decided unanimously to continue as President Nazary Ahmad and as Vice President Fhamy Khai.
Two issues that raised wide discussion among those present were what still can be done in the area of support for Cuba and the need to amend some of the articles on the statutes of the Association.
The Cuban Ambassador to the Asiatic country, Rubén Pérez Valdés was the guest of honor of the 5th General Assembly who made the final remarks of the activity, recognizing and praising the reelected presidency of the Association and thanking to all members of Friends of Cuba for their support.
Pérez Valdés updated the process of re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, an issue that was of great interest to all present.
