Jamaican Youth organization conveys message of solidarity with the Cuban Five on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Young Communist League.
Jamaica.04.06. Last Sunday, April 4, a moving ceremony was held at the Cuban Embassy in Kingston to celebrate the 48th and 49th anniversaries of Cuba’s Young Communist League and the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization, respectively. On behalf of the PNPYO, Sheryl Markland, a young Jamaican member of the PNP youth arm, read a message which conveyed a clear support of the abovementioned organization to the international call for the immediate release of these five young Cuban antiterrorist fighters.
In its letter, the PNPYO highlights that Rene, Fernando, Antonio, Gerardo and Ramón, are unjustly imprisoned today in US jails for defending their country against terrorist attacks masterminded and orchestrated on North American soil. It also means that from September 1998, these five men have been victims of psychological tortures, manipulations, pressures and violations of their human rights.
Likewise, the PNPYO representative expressed that her organization availed itself of the occasion to reiterate its support to the cause of the five heroes and the decision to remain at the side of Cuba in its fight for the final release of these fighters.
When concluding her speech, the PNPYO leader informed the attendees of the actions the organization is planning to take shortly to tell the Jamaican youth the true story of the Five Cuban heroes.
