Cordial meeting of the governor of Aceh province in Indonesia with Cuban ambassador.
Jakarta 25 February 2015. A cordial meeting held between the governor of the province of Aceh, Dr. H. Zaini Abdullah with Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant V. was remembered the important performance of the Cuban medical brigade who came to the area for emergency work, in the wake of the devastating tsunami which showed the sensitive human and material damage caused to Indonesia in December 2004.
On that occasion a multidisciplinary team of Cuban specialists offered its modest contribution to confronting the consequences of that natural phenomenon that killed more than 150,000 people. In addition to the work of the Cuban doctors were conducted donations of medicine.
Recently a forum entitled “10 years after the tsunami” was celebrated and the timely international aid and cooperation was assessed as well as the later reconstruction work in socio economic field.
Dr. Zaini Abdullah underlined the solidarity gesture, exponent of friendly relations between the peoples and governments of Cuba and Indonesia and invited the ambassador to visit the province and to give an updated lecture about the development of the Cuban Health System.
