Cuban dance and music convene in Jakarta

Indonesia, May 8th, 2016. Between the 6th and 8th of May was held in Jakarta the 3rd edition of "Latin Experience 2016" by "Cuban Salsa Indonesia" an organization founded by dancers members of the Community of Cuban Residents in Indonesia and from this country. This cultural event, which main objective is to promote the Cuban culture through popular dances and music, also counted with performances of artists from Latin American, European and Asian countries, all admirers of Cuban culture.

The program, that last for three days, included workshops and lectures on music, traditional dances and Afro-Cuban religion. The main attractions were a representation of traditional folklores dances and a casino wheel made by Cuban and Indonesian dancers and the band "Primavera Band" which played different themes of Cuban music, including Joseíto Fernández well known song Guantanamera. They were also very applauded the presentation of Spanish dancing and singing and Argentine Tango. Attendees enjoyed also presentations of Gafieira Brazilian Samba, Bachata from the Dominican Republic and popular Kisomba of Angola.

With a growing acceptance, Cuban culture has been expanding in Indonesia through dance and music presented by members of the Cuban Community Residents. "Cuban Salsa Indonesia" created in Jakarta, has expanded to Bali and Surabaya, where they have gathered around the Cuban dance and music, dozens of people from Indonesia and other nationalities residing in this country.

The Cuban Embassy gave great importance to the realization of this event as part of its efforts to promote the reality of Cuba. Ambassador Nirsia Castro Guevara, during the inauguration, said that culture is one of the manifestations of greater recognition and acceptance and a special potential to develop the relationship between the two peoples.
