Another young Indonesian is privileged with a scholarship to study medicine in Cuba

Indonesia, August 24, 2016. The Cuban Embassy gave the farewell to Naopal, an Indonesian young who received the scholarship from the caribbean island to study medicine for free, as part of the program of cooperation with the Asian country. The meeting held at the headquarters of the Diplomatic Mission of Cuba was attended as well by the parents of the student and other friends of the Embassy.

 Havana, June 25 2015.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Justice of the Republic of Singapore, H.E. Mr. Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam paid an official visit from 20 to 24 June, fulfilling an official invitation of his Cuban counterpart H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla. During the official talks at the Foreign Ministry he said that Cuba and Singapore are friends and countries with  mutual understanding, but could do more both in multilateral and bilateral spheres.

For his part, the member of the Politburo and Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said the stay on the island of Mr. Shanmugam give new impetus to the ties between the two nations marching positively.
The cooperation on the port administration of the Special Development Zone Mariel, located on west of Havana, has  been successful and there is a promising situation to develop the potential,  he said.

Singapore has the largest seaport handling annual cargo volume both tonnage and number of containers in the world. The country is a major international financial center and a popular tourist destination in Asia.

 Jakarta, June 25, 2015. Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba in Havana Leonel Gonzalez received at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission several businessmen, including Mr. Jorge Kencana, belonging to the Association of Handicraft and Furniture. These entrepreneurs were briefed on Cuba's achievements in social and economic terms as well as the advantages offered by the new investment law in the context of updating its economic model.

Extensive information was also offered on the important project of the Special Development Zone located 45 kms Mariel west of Havana which have been approved over 300 projects from more tan thirty countries.

Finally they showed interest in participating in the International Fair of Havana, one of the most important trade meetings in the Caribbean and Latin America.

 In Havana, Minister Shanmugam called on Vice President and Minister of Economy & Planning Marino Murillo Jorge, and Minister of Foreign Trade & Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz.  Minister Shanmugam had the second round of Singapore-Cuba bilateral political consultations with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parilla, and was also hosted to lunch by Minister Rodriguez.  In addition, Minister Shanmugam visited the Port of Mariel, managed by a wholly-owned subsidiary of PSA International.

  In Santiago de Cuba, Minister met with Speaker of the Provincial People’s Power Assembly and Head of the Provincial Government Reinaldo Garcia Zapata.

Jakarta May 25, 2015. The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Ir. Amram A. Sulaiman, MP received at the headquarters of the ministry in the capital, the Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant V. who addressed the advances experienced in bilateral relations leading to the signature of the MoU in March this year and the successful Cuban help in the fight against dengue fever. The framework was conducive to give Dr Sulaiman personal delivery of the invitation letter for an official visit to Cuba, which was appreciated and welcomed commenting about how important, is for Indonesia the Cuban experience accumulated since both share similar objectives and challenges. For his part, Minister explained the priorities in the agricultural sector and huge and intensive short-term plans to achieve production of basic crops such as soybeans, rice and the important base of popular feed corn. Cuban Ambassador exchanged with the Deputy Governor of Central Java, Indonesia Jakarta April 16 , 2015.- Foreign diplomats accredited in Indonesia, visited Mageland in the province of Central Java, invited by the mayor to the celebrations for the 1109 anniversary of the city. The delegation participated in a program of socio-cultural activities, including economics centres, concluding with the meeting of Deputy Governor and other local authorities who provided information about the creation of new jobs, development of local industries and economic potential of the region. In cordial exchange with Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant Valdes, Deputy Governor was interested in the positive changes experienced by the Cuban economy from the process of updating its economic model, the opportunities to foreign investors, the new investment law approved last year and the start of operations in the Economic Development Zone of Mariel, located at 45 kms to the west of the Cuban capital. Cuba promotes Business in Indonesia.

Jakarta May 22, 2015. The Embassy of Cuba participated in Trade and Investment Fair organized by AITIS, Summit Investment and Trade of local and regional governments in Indonesia and the Forum of Small and Medium Enterprises Asia - ASEAN. Cuba was represented by its Ambassador Enna Viant V. who gave a presentation on progress in the economy as well as the updating of the Cuban economic model and opportunities for foreign investment, open from the approval of the new investment law, aimed to export sectors and import substitution, promoting modernization, infrastructure development and technological change pattern. The Cuban diplomat explained that investments are promoted on the basis of a broad and diversified portfolio of projects in which the development of integrated projects that generate productive linkages are encouraged. Similarly companies with 100% foreign capital for investment and development complex industrial infrastructure are promoted, as well as investments in the field of renewable energies contribute to changing the country's energy matrix are stimulated. Singapore-April 30th, 2015: The Director General of Centre of Molecular Immunology from Havana, Cuba Dr Agustin B. Lage Davila concluded a business and scientific visit to Singapore from April 15-19th, 2015 under the auspices of the Singaporean biotech companies InnoCIMAb Pte Ltd and Innokeys Pte Ltd. During this visit Dr Lage Davila, was called on by Dr Lam Pin Min, Ministry of State for Health of Singapore, topics related to Singaporean Health Policies, Cuban Health Care Program, Cuban Biotechnology System, the development of preventive dengue vaccines and the importance of having a wide access of the population to affordable medicines were discussed. Dr Lage Davila, Her Excellence Mary SEET-Cheng Ambassador to Cuba from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Singapore, Johannes Setijono, Chairman of InnoCIMAb Pte Ltd and Rikrik A. Ilyas, CEO of InnoCIMAb Pte Ltd met with Mr Chua Eu Jin, Managing Director, Americas and Managing Director, Legal and Regulations from Temasek International Pte Ltd to discuss investment opportunities for Singaporean companies in Cuba’s new Mariel Special Economic Development Zone (ZEDM). Jakarta April 29, 2015. An enthusiast group of friends of the Association of Friendship Indonesia Cuba, university students, businessmen and Cuban residents attended the lecture given by the Cuban Ambassadress and the debates on the Cuban actuality as well as economic performance reached at the end of 2014. The gathering in the diplomatic mission of Cuba in Jakarta, also was a propitious occasion to remember the 54 anniversary of the first military defeat of the North American imperialism in Latin America.
