Indonesian Health Minister receives Cuban ambassador.

Jakarta February 27 2015.- The Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Hon. Dr. Nila D.A. Moeloek, received the Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant Valdes. Also present were Prof. Dr. Akmal Taher, Director General of Health care and other officials of the Centre for International Cooperation. Issues of bilateral cooperation in health with science institutions such as Biocuba pharma and in particular with different centers as the Engineering Biotecnology Genetic Center, Finlay Institute, Center for Molecular Immunology were evaluated as well as the important steps and coordination of both counterparts aimed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between both Ministries. The Honorable Dra. Moeloek commented favorably the medical assistance team provided by Cuban doctors after the 2004 tsunami and then the earthquake of 2006 and the fact that young Indonesians are studying medicine at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, as part of the governmental scholarship program. Also subject of interest was the Cuban experience in the battle against dengue and praised the fruitful collaboration in dengue control and application of Cuban biolarvicides in some provinces in Indonesia. Finally the Cuban ambassador reiterated the invitation to the Minister to visit Cuba and in particular to the event.”Convention of Health for all”, to be held in April this year. Embacuba Indonesia
