Geneva, December 5, 2016. The Human Rights Council paid tribute to the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz. At the request of the Venezuelan Ambassador, Jorge Valero, Room XX of the "Palais des Nations" observed a minute of silence, with which ambassadors, officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations and officials of the Secretariat of the United Nations, paid a posthumous tribute to the Cuban leader.
The Venezuelan ambassador recalled the continuous battle of the Commander in Chief for the most just causes of the Third World peoples, which made him a personality that transcended the borders of his country.
Acknowledging this demonstration of respect and solidarity in these moments of deep pain, the Cuban Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo reaffirmed the commitment to remain faithful to Fidel's ideas and work and defend the values of justice that he defended.
