Professor Jean Ziegler, member of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council, signs the Book of Condolences for the decease of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Geneva, December 4, 2016. Professor Jean Ziegler, member of the Advisory Committee of the Human Rights Council, visited the Permanent Mission of Cuba to sign the Book of Condolences opened at this venue on the occasion of the decease of the Historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution. 

In the emotional dialogue with Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez and other diplomatic officials of the Mission, the prestigious Swiss academic recalled the deep bonds of brotherhood that bind him to the Cuban Revolution and Fidel, grounded in long years of solidarity in favor of the island. 

Ziegler, who went to sign the Book accompanied by his wife, expressed his deep regret at Fidel's departure, whom he described as an extraordinary man because of his humanism, his modesty and his constant struggle for the just causes of the world.
