Tribute was paid to the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, at a meeting of Heads of Delegations of the World Trade Organization, in Geneva.
Geneva, December 1st, 2016. At the beginning of the meeting of Heads of Delegations of the World Trade Organization (WTO), its Director-General, Roberto Azevedo, expressed his condolences to the Ambassador of Cuba and to the Cuban nation for the death of Fidel Castro. In his words, he recalled that the WTO hosted the then Cuban President in 1998 on the occasion of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the multilateral trading system and added that there is no question that Fidel was a hugely influential figure in global affairs in the 20th century, and beyond.
Afterwards, the Ambassador of Bolivia, Nardi Suxo, on behalf of the ALBA member countries, expressed her heartfelt and sincere condolences to the people and Government of Cuba on the death of the Father of the Cuban Revolution and requested a minute of silence in honor of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, as a sign of respect and solidarity with Cuba.
Gathered in the room of the WTO General Council, Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives and officials of the diplomatic missions in Geneva and of the Secretariat of the Organization paid tribute to the Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution.
