Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia Meets with members of Cuban Medical Brigade

LIBERIA, October 15, 2014. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, met with members of the Cuban Medical Brigade, led by Dr. JUan Carlos Dupuy Nuñez, to help the country fight the Ebola outbreak, according to information provide by this African nation Chancery.

Liberian Chancellor conveyed to the Cubans the sincere gratitude to the Government and people of Cuba on behalf of the President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and the Government and people of Liberia. 

Minister Ngafuan stated the distinguished role of Cuba in the field of health care and referred that Cuban physicians are "diplomats of the health in the world".

President of Sierra Leone Receives Cuban Ambassador

SIERRA LEONE,October 13, 2014. President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, received at the House of Government, the Cuban Ambassador, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, and the members of the excutive of the Cuban Medical Brigade in that nation. 

President Koroma conveyed his satisfaction for the arrival of 165 Cuban health professionals amid a moment of great necessity for the country which demonstrates that Cuba is a friend to Sierra Leone.

"It is a friendship established since the 1970's and today Cuba has demonstrated it is a true friend to our country. The people of Sierra Leone will never forget that Cubans have done a great sacrifice to come a to help fight Ebola", expressed Koroma.

Cuba health professionals arrived to Sierra Leone to Fight Ebola

SIERRA LEONE, October 3, 2014. A brigade composed by 165 health professionals arrived to Freetown, capital of Sierra Leone, this Thursday, to join the efforts to end with the Ebola outbreak.

The group was received by the Deputy Minister of Health, Madina Rahman, who greeted them on behalf of the President, the Government and the people of Sierra Leone.

Rahman stated that these men have left their homes and families to come and help the people of Sierra Leone to fight the terrible disease.

President Raul Castro Bids Farewell to the Medical Brigade to fight Ebola in Sierra Leone

CUBA,  October 2, 2014. President Raúl Castro Ruz bid farewell last night to the 165 health professional who departed to Sierra Leone, to be part of the world  fight against Ebola which has caused the death of thousands in West Africa.

At the airport, Army General  greeted each of the collaborator who with evident pride departed to comply with the sacred duty of saving lives. The group is compossed by 63 physicians and 102 nurses  with more than 15 years of experience. Aeound 80% of these have worked in other international missions, many of them in the African continent.

José Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Cetnral Committee of Cuban Communist Party and Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, attended the farewell ceremony, as well as Roberto Morales Ojeda, Minister of Public Health.

Newly appointed Minister of Health of Ghana Meets with Cuban Ambassador and Collaboration executives

GHANA, September 1, 2014. Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, Jorge Lefebre, was received by the Minister of Health of this African nation, Dr. Kwaku Agyeman Mensah, and other officials at this Ministry. 

During the work meeting, the parts received an update on the situation of Cuban cooperation in Ghana, among other issues of interest. The Minister of Health appreciated the presence of Cuban collaborators at the Medical Brigade and LABIOFAM, while confirming the interest to continue strengthening the relations of cooperation between the two nations.

The Cuban part was also represented by George Serrano and Félix Quintanar,  head of Cuban Medical Brigade and the representative of LABIOFAM in Western AFrica, respectively.
