Cuba and the United Sates will hold the fifth Bilateral Commission Meeting

HAVANA, December 6th, 2016. Delegations of Cuba and the United Sates will meet in Havana, on Wednesday, December 7th, on the occasion of the fifth meeting of the Bilateral Commission.

The Cuban delegation will be led by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Director General for US Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while the US delegation will be led by Mari Carmen Aponte, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs.

Remarks by Cuban Ambassador at reception for 1st anniversary of re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and US

Almost a year ago from this very room our Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla described the circumstances under which bilateral ties with the United States of America were restored, Embassies were reopened and our National flags were raised. Our Minister brought a message from our President Raúl Castro, “as an expression of the good will and sound determination to move forward, through a dialogue based on mutual respect and sovereign equality, to a civilized coexistence, even despite the differences that exist between both governments, which makes it possible to solve bilateral problems and promote cooperation and the development of mutually beneficial relations, just as both people desire and deserve”. This message remains intact and retains all validity.
