Monday, May 30, 2016

Copenhagen, May 26th. 2016

To Kristian Jensen, Minister of Foreign Affairs
and to the members of The Foreign Council (Folketingets Udenrigsudvalg)

The Danish-Cuban Association contacts you because the webshop of the association has been closed as a consequence of the US blockade against Cuba. The payment system, which via the company PayPal has worked perfect since 2012, is now closed and 1617 Danish kroner on the account is frozen.

We are very unhappy, that our legal Danish association becomes victim of the US blockade of Cuba – a blockade, which is contrary to international law and which The UN General Assembly for 24 years has condemned nearly unanimously whith support from every shifting Danish governments.

The economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba remains in full force
Saturday, May 14, 2016

New York, 9 May 2016. The decision announced 17 December 2014 by President Raúl Castro and President Barack Obama on re-establishing diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba marked the beginning of an intense and complex process, showing unprecedented results in the history of bilateral relations such as the re-establishment of diplomatic relations and the re-opening of embassies in both capitals.

The main obstacle in this process toward the improvement of relations is the permanence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, which influences all life spheres of the Cuban nation, affects the American people and other countries’ citizens, and remains in place despite the overwhelming rejection by the international community, which has called for ending the blockade in the United Nations for the last 24 successive years.

Cuban Foreign Ministry condemns parliamentary coup in Brazil
Thursday, April 21, 2016

Sectors of the right wing representing the oligarchy, in alliance with the reactionary press in Brazil, openly supported by the corporate media and imperialism, have consummated in the country’s House of Deputies the first step in what constitutes a parliamentary coup d’etat against the legitimate government of the Workers’ Party (PT) and President Dilma Rousseff, which has been in the works for several months.

This is an attack, based on unproven accusations with no legal foundation, on Brazilian democracy and the legitimacy of a government which was elected at the polls by a majority of the people, as has been denounced by the head of state and by former President and PT leader, Luiz Inacio “Lula” Da Silva, and by numerous leaders of left wing political parties and Brazilian social movements.
