Botswana, April 27, 2016. The Cuban Ambassador to Botswana, H.E. Mr. Juan Carlos Arencibia Corrales, this afternoon paid a courtesy call to the Honorable Dr. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Botswana, with whom held a positive exchange of views regarding to the good level of bilateral relations existing between both governments, on the current situation of their respective countries, as well as on the other issues of common interest, including several matters concerning to the international affairs.

Today, a date of such importance for the preservation of our planet and the human species inhabiting it, it is worth mentioned the words of the historical leader of the Cuba Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, who, during the first Global Conference on Sustainable Development of Small Island States, in Barbados, stated, and I quote:

“Poor and small countries in the world try to know how we will survive in the coming decades. As we are islands…, we wonder what will happen when the water levels up, and whether we will be able to cope with drought, cyclones and other climate catastrophes that await us.”

NEW YORK, APRIL 21, 2016. Statement by the head of the Cuban delegation, H.E. María Esther Reus González, Minister of Justice, at the high-level debate on the implementation of the sustainable development goals.

Mr. President:

The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development at the United Nations Summit, held on September 2015, was a landmark in the history of humanity. It contains the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that will guide the actions of the international community towards sustainable development, as well as the complete eradication of poverty in the coming 15 years.

Botswana, on April 16, 2016. As part of the activities commemorating the 55th anniversary of the declaration by our Commander in Chief of the socialist character of the Cuban revolution and the victory of Giron beach and welcoming  the celebration of the Seventh Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, took place the National scientific Meeting of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Botswana, which was attended by the authors of scientific works that were awarded in the previous territorial journeys performed in 8 districts of the country where Cuban health professionals are rendering their services.
